Who we are

Westview Centre 4 Women (WC4W), is a place we call our own. The Centre fosters a non-judgmental environment that accepts women exactly the way they are; it is a space to meet friends from the past and make new friends for the future.

WC4W creates an environment of understanding, friendship and compassion.  Women who walk through our doors are invited to be who they are, no expectations attached. Within our community of sisters, women are celebrated and supported in their times of joy, sorrow or loneliness.

At Westview Centre 4 Women, everyone is treated with dignity and respect and is appreciated as an equal.  The Centre reinforces and demonstrates every individual has something to offer.  Whether it is sorting clothes, being a resource of knowledge or a shoulder to cry on, or helping in the kitchen, every woman enriches the community.

Specialized efforts in fundraising enable us to provide support where services have gaps or are simply not available.  Without the input and help of its donors and members, Westview Centre 4 Women would not be the family it is today.

Mission

Westview Centre 4 Women core belief is that everyone who identifies themselves as a woman deserves a safe, welcoming and dignified environment where they feel accepted and encouraged in who they are.  Every woman has been given all that it takes to create a life of value and meaning.

Vision

Westview Centre 4 Women is a weekly Resource Centre, where women of all walks of life are welcomed into a safe, open, and affirming environment. We accept each other just the way we are and are encouraged to be ourselves.

History

“Several years ago a group of women who saw a need in the Queenston Street area decided to reach out to the community and offer free clothing, coffee, snacks and friendship.  As they met the women, they quickly realized tangible and emotional supports were desperately needed.  Assistance was provided which enabled the ability to offer workshops, regular hot meals, showers and laundry facilities.  It became obvious a multitude of opportunities existed for women to work on themselves, with support, and become who they were meant to be.

Activities and programs were developed to help increase women’s resilience and emotional well-being.  These were to provide a sense of safety, hope, social connectedness while addressing anxiety and depression as it related to the women’s daily living.  Improving their quality of life and helping to build healthier communities was the outcome.  Today we are part of the mental health community in Niagara, providing valued services.

Westview Centre 4 Women became a Registered Charity in September of 2023.

In March of 2024 Westview Centre 4 Women moved into 17 Gale Crescent in St. Catharines.  We have substantially increased our space and services offered, while remaining in the Queenston neighbourhood.
